Xscapeartists.com is an online art gallery and store front with the intended purpose of showcasing the talent of its artist, many of whom without this space would not have a space or representation in the art community. Art is a lace of escape for so many. As premiere artist/curator of Xscapeartists.com who happens to be incarcerated, mental escape takes on a very literal meaning at times. The name is meant to tap into the freedoms that come along with the talent. It’s something that flirted with on/off for years but started to take seriously in early 2020. In that regard, if my talents or this site were my baby it would be a PANDEMIC baby. A side from anything else I learned in middle school art class it was my competitive nature that really that really got me into art, but specifically drawing. I simply didn’t think some guys were good, so in my mind if you can do it I can do it too. In the beginning it was all pencil & paper. Any pencil any paper. I was never consistent. Art was like a woman that I’d flirt with from time to time. A woman that would be great for me if I put the time in to the relationship, but I was satisfied with the light flirting. I felt I could have her if & when I wanted so I did enough to keep her interested. After flirting with pencil & paper for years, even stepping it up buying some decent supplies. I had entered into a relationship with art one that wouldn’t last long at the time. I didn’t feel I was getting what I wanted out of her. I felt she was restrictive and prudish…..It wasn’t her it was me.
